Easter Marketing Tips

Easter is a fantastic opportunity for salons to embrace the season's energy, engage with clients, and boost business. With vibrant colours, fresh trends, and the promise of spring renewal, Easter offers salons a chance to entice clients with irresistible offers and creative campaigns. If you’re looking to make the most out of this Easter season, here are some top marketing tips to help you attract new clients and keep your regulars coming back for more.

Create Easter-Themed Specials and Packages

Everyone loves a good deal, especially around the holidays. Consider offering Easter-themed promotions to create excitement. Some ideas include:

Easter Glam Packages: Offer packages that include a combination of services like a fresh spring haircut, colour touch-up, and a luxurious pedicure. These packages can be marketed as "Spring Refresh" or "Easter Beauty Boost."

Limited-Time Discounts: Create time-sensitive discounts leading up to Easter. For example, offer a 10-20% discount on all services booked in the week before Easter, or provide a special rate for first-time clients.

Social Media Easter Engagement

Social media is a powerful tool for connecting with both existing and new clients. Here's how to get creative with your Easter posts:

Easter Giveaways: Host a social media giveaway. To enter, followers can like, comment, or share your post, and you can offer a grand prize like a free service or an Easter-themed beauty basket filled with products from your salon.

Easter Countdown: Begin a countdown to Easter with daily posts featuring Easter-related services, products, and tips. This keeps your followers engaged and excited about what’s to come.

Email Campaigns with Exclusive Easter Offers

Email marketing remains one of the most effective ways to keep in touch with clients. For Easter, consider sending out emails with:

Exclusive Offers: Send out a limited-time Easter special offer to your loyal clients, such as a free product with their next service or a discount for referring a friend.

Last-Minute Reminders: As Easter approaches, send out reminders for clients to book their appointments, especially for the busy days leading up to the holiday. Offer flexible hours or discounts for early bookings.

At Salon Tracker, we integrate with Mailchimp. If you have an account, get in touch with us and we can get this integrated for you!

Revamp Your Salon’s Atmosphere

The atmosphere of your salon can make all the difference during the holidays. Easter is a time of renewal and joy, so reflect that in your space with small touches like:

Easter Decorations: Use pastel-coloured decorations, floral arrangements, and bunny-themed items to make your salon feel festive. It could even extend to your waiting area with Easter treats or small goodie bags for clients.

Conclusion

Easter offers salons a unique opportunity to market themselves creatively while celebrating the new season. By using a combination of promotions, social media, emails and decorations, you can make your salon stand out this spring and create a memorable experience for your clients. So, hop to it and make this Easter one of your best marketing moments yet!

Mothers day Marketing with Salon Tracker

Boost Your Salon Sales This Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day is the perfect time to celebrate the amazing women in our lives—and for salons, it’s also a fantastic opportunity to boost sales. With so many customers looking for the perfect gift, now is the time to stand out, offer something unique, and make their buying decisions easier. If you can provide an irresistible offer, why should they go anywhere else?

Stand Out from the Crowd...

Salons, spas, and florists are go-to destinations for Mother’s Day gifts, meaning competition is fierce. To ensure your salon is the first choice, think outside the box and offer something fresh and exciting.

We know that coming up with new ideas can be a challenge, so we’ve put together a few creative strategies to help you maximise sales in the lead-up to Mother’s Day.

1. Offer Unique Discounts

Traditional discounts work, but personalising them makes all the difference. Try these creative approaches:

Bundle Deals – Pair a popular treatment with a complementary service at a special price.

Multi-Treatment Packages – Encourage repeat visits with discounted bundles that extend beyond Mother’s Day.

Referral Rewards – Offer discounts or free add-ons for customers who refer a friend to book a Mother’s Day service.

VIP Offers – Provide exclusive early access or limited-time discounts to your most loyal clients.

Gift With Purchase – Include a small but thoughtful add-on, such as a mini product or extra pampering session, to enhance their experience.

2. Create Meaningful Experiences

Rather than just selling a product, create an experience that mothers and their loved ones will cherish.

Mother-Daughter or Mother-Son Treatments – Offer 2-for-1 packages where they can enjoy quality time together.

Special Event Names – Brand your offers with names like “Mum & Me” or “Mother’s Pamper Day” and promote them across your social media.

Gift Cards with a Personal Touch – Offer handwritten messages or beautifully wrapped packages to make them extra special.

3. Leverage Social Media & Online Marketing

The internet is your best friend when it comes to reaching customers. Here’s how to use it effectively:

Gift Guide Campaigns – Share curated Mother’s Day gift guides featuring your best treatments and products.

Staff Picks of the Week – Have team members introduce a featured product or treatment to boost engagement.

Targeted Ads – Use Facebook and Instagram ads to promote your Mother’s Day offers to local customers.

4. Last-Minute Gift Solutions

Let’s face it—many partners leave gift shopping until the last minute. Make it easy for them with:

Late-Night or Early-Morning Shopping Events – Offer an exclusive shopping window for last-minute buyers.

Pre-Wrapped Gift Bundles – Provide stress-free, ready-to-go gift sets.

Quick-Fix Gift Cards – Promote gift vouchers that can be purchased instantly - read our 'gift voucher' blog to see how you can track these with Salon Tracker!

5. DIY & Interactive Experiences

Handmade or experiential gifts are always a hit. Get creative with:

Beauty Product Making Workshops – Host an event where customers can create their own beauty products.

Makeup Masterclasses – Offer sessions like “The Art of Contouring” as a Mother’s Day treat.

Exclusive Salon Events – Organise pampering sessions or tutorials that loved ones can gift to mums.

Final Thoughts

Mother’s Day is a golden opportunity for salons to connect with customers, boost sales, and create lasting memories. By offering unique discounts, special experiences, and leveraging online marketing, you can make your salon the go-to destination this season.

Ready to make this Mother’s Day your best yet? Start planning now and watch your bookings soar!

Marketing with Salon Tracker

With SMS open rates being 98%, there is no better time than now to push SMS marketing! Which is
this blog will run through how you can use our marketing suite to your benefit!

If you are on our Professional and Enterprise package, you're probably familiar with our marketing suite where you can target a specific range of customers and send them, either a text directly from the software, or an email by using MailChimp! Either way, I bet you weren't aware of the exact filters you can use on the software to precisely target your customers.

Alerting your customers their booking services are due to expire

The software has a clever way of monitoring your clients' booking services such as tanning minutes remaining or beauty packages remaining. As a result of this, you can send out a text directly to those whose minutes are due to expire in any set time frame, whether that's in the next month, 3 months or 6 months! You can filter it to what you want!

This campaign will encourage your customers to come back in the salon and use up their minutes thus resulting in them purchasing more and boosting your business!

To use this filter go to:

Marketing > Filters > select 'Alert customers their bookable services will expire' > select dates to what you would like it to be e.g. next 3 months or next 6 months > change the 'next month' to the time frame you would like > apply filter > send SMS.

The text is already pre-written for you but if you want to edit it you can do this too! Just make sure that it is under 160 characters for it to be classed as 1 SMS credit. You can also preview the text to your own phone using the 'Preview Mobile Tel' box to input your number and pressing the phone symbol on the right hand side to make sure you are happy with the text!

Push your online booking for those customers who haven't booked online yet!

Moving from making bookings manually on the phone to using an online booking system can be a drastic change for both Salon owners and Salon Clients. Some may resist to the change and prefer to ring up themselves and do it which as you all know, can be very time consuming! So for those customers you're struggling to get using online booking, we've got you covered with a marketing filter!
Offering a simple gesture of just 10% off or £5 off can work wonders for encouraging your customers to book online, once they've done it they'll find it easier to continue doing therefore saving you time and utilising your online booking to its best ability!

Go to:

Marketing > Filters > select 'customers not online' > apply filter.

Give something back to your best spending customers

Whether you want to send it to your best spending customers in general or for your self employed staffs' own customers the extensive filter selection has both covered!

That way your loyal customers will feel appreciated and will be more inclined to return whilst encouraging them to recommend you to other people!

To do this:

Marketing > Filters > select 'Custom - create your own marketing campaign' > select 'best customer by spend' drop down > select your preference e.g 'best 10' then click apply filter. If you want to use it for your self employed staff then use the + button to add another filter row and use the dropdown to select 'customer by bookable item' then use the other drop down to select the correct booking item.

Birthday texts

Everybody loves to receive a birthday text, especially when it has an offer in it! The software has 2 types of pre-made filters for your customers with birthdays coming up. 1 is made for all customers called 'birthday gift message' and the other is for your high spending customers with birthdays coming up called 'birthday gift message for high spending customers'. It's up to you which you choose - whether you're feeling generous or extra generous - we've got you covered with this filter.

A birthday gift doesn't have to be a lot either, it could be a small voucher or even a percentage off, but if your clients get that extra personalised touch - big or small it's bound to work wonders for you. You can even get extra personal and categorise the texts for genders, e.g men could get a free haircut for their birthday and women could be given a free manicure!

To do this:

Marketing > Filters > select 'birthday gift message' > change the 'next month' drop down to what you would want it to be > apply filter.

For customers who haven't visited in a while

Life happens, things get in the way and self-care becomes a thing of the past for some people. Well why not give them that gentle reminder to say that you miss them and would love to see them back in the salon?

You have probably forgotten about half of the customers that you've had in the salon once and haven't been in again yet. Lucky for you - the software cleverly recalls these for you, down to the exact date they were last in. So if you're having a bit of a quiet period and need that extra push, use the 'for customers who haven't visited in a while' filter and go for the 'last year' or 'last 2 years' filter which will then provide you with a list of people that haven't visited the salon in that time frame. Entice them in with 10% off which will bring them in and encourage them to return, therefore boosting revenue and keeping you busy!

To do this:

Marketing > Filters > select 'for customers who haven't visited in a while' > change dates to your preference (1-2 years normally works quite well) > apply filter.

If you would prefer to use email marketing, all these filters can still be used but instead of clicking 'send SMS' you would click 'send email' which will then export the list of clients into a .csv file which can then be uploaded directly to Mailchimp!

Learning new things can be quite daunting and we get that, that's why we offer free training with your monthly software subscription which can be booked whenever you need it!

How to Prepare your Salon for the Busy Months

Now that Spring and Summer are approaching, this is when the busiest salon period starts. This applies to all salons, but especially tanning. Customers will be eager to get their holiday appointments booked in, so that they have their bouncy blowdrys, fresh lash extensions and build up that base tan before their Spring and Summer get-aways.

With this in mind, you should be preparing your salon for the busy months ahead. This blog will give you the tips and tricks needed to ensure you are ready for the holiday rush!

Tanning Tubes

If you are a tanning salon, a vital part of your preparation will be ensuring your sunbeds are retubed! At Salon Tracker, we recommend your sunbed tubes get replaced after 850 hours of usage. Retubing your sunbeds is an essential part of ensuring your customers have a deep, long-lasting tan, as the UV rays will be stronger.

You made need to warn customers to reduce their regular minutes by 3, as the first 100 hours of the new sunbed tubes will be more intense than usual.

Retail Stock

An essential preparation technique for every type of salon is re-stocking their retail products for the Spring and Summer! As customers will be coming in more regularly, they are more likely to purchase retail products along with their visits. This means your salon will need to be ordering in more retail products for this period.

If you are a tanning salon, we recommend purchasing your retail products from Bliss. They sell sunbed creams, sachets, tan shots, goggles and many more products!

We would also recommend them for stocking up on salon supplies such as sunbed sanitiser, hand towels, head rests, posters, sachet displays etc. for if you also need a restock of these supplies to prepare you for the busy period!

Bliss Direct Welcome to our World of Tanning - UV Lotions & More

Enterprise Package

Salon Tracker is an essential when it comes to busy periods in salons. Our Enterprise package is a great way for customers to be able to book in advance for appointments and sunbed slots, to receive their desired date and time without having to be added to a waiting list in busy periods.

Our Enterprise package also allows you to access reports, take-ins, bookings and customers remotely and can be accessed on any type of device, meaning that if you do not have time to run reports while in the salon, these can be run from anywhere at any time.

Our Enterprise package is £90/month + VAT, and has many more important features. Give us a call on 0113 350 8230 today to enquire about upgrading!

Marketing

Marketing is a useful tool to use during busy periods. Encouraging customers to book in advance will mean that they will be able to receive the desired date and time they prefer as if they try to walk in or book too late during a busy period, they may face disappointment.

If you are on our Enterprise package, marketing your online booking link on your social media pages is a great way to encourage customers to book in advance so they can get their appointments before it’s too late.

If you are on our Professional/Enterprise package, sending out marketing emails and SMS texts are great ways of reminding customers to get that appointment booked in that they have been thinking about. This can be done in the ‘Marketing’ section of Salon Tracker.

To purchase SMS credits or for help connecting your Mailchimp account to Salon Tracker, just give us a call on 0113 350 8230 and we will be happy to help!

All of these features are great ways to prepare your salon for the busy months coming!

Valentines Day Marketing

Valentine’s day is just around the corner and for many people it’s the perfect day to spoil your loved ones. This blog will discuss how your salon can make the most of this day! There are three simple steps involved in making a success of this day: Planning, Marketing and Selling. So, keep reading to see how you can upsell your treatments and retail products this Valentine's Day.

Planning

Before you can go out and start advertising your deals and offers it’s important to determine which of your services and retail products are going to be most popular for V-day sales. To make your salon more appealing for those looking at treating a loved one, it’s a good idea to bundle a few treatments together and create a special ‘Valentine’s Day Package’. You could do a few different priced packages to appeal to a broader range of people, starting with a couple of services for a lower price and going up to a more premium price and including your more expensive services in these packages. The same can be done with your retail products by putting together a few different priced hampers. The key is to figure out which of your treatments will perform best, whether its massages, nails, facials etc.

Another great way to utilise Valentine’s Day is by selling gift vouchers, you could even get specific ones printed for Valentines day and give them a bit more of a personalised feel. Gift cards also often result in people spending more as they know they’re going to be getting say £20-£30 off, so it’s a win-win as a salon owner.

Gift hampers are also a great idea during this period! It's so quick and easy to create a bundle full of the products you sell in your salon (maybe even some that are not usually as popular to promote them) - you could even add in a gift voucher into this to make it an extra special gift!

Marketing

Once you’ve done all of your planning, it’s time to market it to your customers and target customers. As we all know by now, the main place you want to be showing off these deals is across your Social Media platforms, as this will not only help reach your current customers, but it will also help to reach potential new customers! Especially with Instagram and Facebook having an option for customers to share your posts, it will further help to reach a wider range of people.

The best way to market your offer is by creating an eye-catching post to make sure it stands out amongst others when someone is scrolling through their feed. Canva is a great tool for this with loads of templates and images you can use! You can then use the same image across all of your social media platforms, and this will help to show consistency. Here’s an example of one that I quickly made by using a template, to show you how easy it is:

You also want to make sure that you make it obvious in your physical salon that there are going to be deals available, for example on your reception desk it would be a good idea to place the hampers in view, along with any gift vouchers.

If you are already a customer of Salon Tracker, then I’m sure you already know about our Marketing suite. If not, this is a great feature built in with Salon Tracker that enables you to send out an SMS message to all of your customers straight from one place. There are plenty of different filters that you can apply in order to target a specific range of customers. I have come up with a few examples of messages you could send out:

Example 1

“Hi <<forename>>
Don’t miss out on our V-Day deals! £45 for acrylic nails & a facial, £60 for a back massage, mani, pedi & facial! Call 0113 350 8230 to book”

Example 2

“Hi <<forename>>
Treat your loved one this Valentine’s Day at <<salonname>> for as little as £20! Call 0113 350 8230 to book before it’s too late”

Example 3

“Give your partner the ultimate Valentine’s Day treat at <<salonname>> with our V-Day Special! Full Body Massage, Facial & Mani for just £45. Call 0113 350 8230 to book!”

SMS messages have a great open rate of around 98%, so it’s a great way to directly market your customers. By using both the SMS marketing suite and the use of social media, you are massively increasing your chances of having a successful number of sales.

Selling

After all of your planning and preparation I’m sure it will all pay off when it comes to the day. As Valentine’s Day falls on a Friday this time, it makes it an even better opportunity to make the most of it, as you can extend the offers and deals to run until the end of Sunday and ensure that your calendar is fully booked!

I hope these tips will help you have a successful Valentine’s Day weekend in your salon! If you are interested in taking a look at the marketing suite on a free demo and trial then don’t hesitate to contact our team by either emailing info@salontracker.co.uk or calling on 0113 350 8230 and someone will be happy to help.

Christmas Look Book 2024: Top Trends for the Festive Season

The holiday season is here, and a Christmas Look Book can be your salon’s secret weapon for inspiring clients and boosting bookings. Here are some trends that can help you shine this season!

1. Glow All Season

For tanning salons, showcasing different tanning options such as spray tans, gradual lotions, and bronzing treatments is a great way to give clients a natural, sun-kissed look, perfect for holiday parties or winter getaways.

2. Feature Seasonal Salon Offers

Use the Look Book to promote holiday service packages, gift cards, and festive product bundles. Holiday packages that combine hair, makeup, and nails make perfect gifts or ready-made makeovers for holiday events. Showcase loyalty perks like discounts or points for the New Year to encourage repeat visits.

3. Inspire Winter Self-Care

Highlight seasonal treatments for winter dryness like hydrating masks, conditioning treatments, or scalp care. Suggest take-home products for clients to pamper themselves and keep their hair holiday-ready. Offering creams and including seasonal skincare tips, like moisturising routines to maintain an even tan is also great to offer clients during these colder months.

4. Showcase Holiday Hair Trends

Clients love fresh ideas for holiday styles! Feature seasonal colour trends like warm caramel highlights or icy blondes, along with festive hairstyles like glam curls, braids, and elegant updos. Add photos with hair accessories—like sparkling pins and jewelled headbands—to give clients festive style inspiration.

5. Promote Holiday Makeup Looks

Offer makeup looks that sparkle. Highlight classic red lips, smoky eyes with metallic shimmer, and bold glitter looks. Include mini-tutorials or tips to inspire clients to book a makeup session or try a new festive style.

We hope these tips gave you some ideas for what you can offer in your salon during the festive season!

Christmas Marketing with Salon Tracker

Creating a Christmas marketing campaign for your salon can help attract new clients, retain existing ones, and boost sales during the festive season. This blog will discuss some of the ways you can utilise the Christmas period to increase sales in your salon!

Exclusive Holiday Products

Creating special holiday bundles with your retail products will get your customers in the festive mood and help sell your products that may not be as often sold. You could offer pre-made or customisable boxes for gifting to friends as a Christmas gift or as a treat for themselves!

Introducing holiday-themed services, like Christmas nails creates a festive atmosphere and gives customers a reason to indulge in the Christmas spirit.

Another great way to bring in some more business is to offer Christmas gift vouchers in the store... after it is the season for giving!! Offering gift vouchers is a great way to spread the word about your business through your loyal customers and is the perfect gift for Christmas!

Partner with Local Businesses

Partnering with local boutiques, cafes, or gyms to offer cross-promotions for the holiday season is great to help other businesses in your area and spread the word to people who may not have previously heard about you. For example an offer you could do is "Bring your receipt from [Local Café] and get 10% off your booking with us!"

Pre-Booking Incentives

Offering discounts to customers who pre-book appointments for the New Year is a great way to help fill your calendar for the slower months ahead and gives your customers a reason to return after the holiday rush.

Double the points in your loyalty program for clients who book and receive services during the holiday season. This will encourage customers to come in more and make the most of your offer!

Christmas-Themed Events

Another great way to invite your customers into your salon is by hosting Christmas events. For example you could partner with a local charity to host a holiday giving event. Offer discounts or free add-ons for clients who bring in items for donation, like toys, clothes, or food for local shelters.

You could even host an in-salon event where clients can enjoy mini beauty treatments, consultations, or makeup tutorials to help them get ready for the holiday season.

A Christmas giveaway where you share an offer every day for the 12 days of Christmas could also be a great way to ensure your customers are always coming back for more! Whether it be a discount each day or a free product with any purchase/ booking this will keep your customers guessing and excited to find out.

Social Media

Last but not least… Probably the most obvious way to spread the word these days has to be Social Media!

You can use Social Media to your advantage by sharing your plans of what's to come over the Christmas period. Promoting all of the above mentioned offers and events is a great way to let people know what is happening in your salon and share with their friends to help you gain more business!

We hope this blog has given you some useful tips on how to make these colder winter times a bit more jolly.

Let the countdown begin!

Halloween Marketing Tips

As it is October, the spooky season is upon us!

Halloween is a delightful time of year where people come together and bond over all things wicked and wonderful.

In this blog, you will learn some tricks and treats of the trade and how to implement the Halloween spirit into your salon and get your customers into the spooky mood.

Decorate your Salon

In order for your customers to get into the Halloween spirit, the first step is for you to decorate your salon accordingly.

This means pumpkins, cobwebs, ghosts, skeletons, you name it!

You could also leave a bowl of Halloween sweets for people to take as they leave, and have a Halloween music playlist playing while the salon is open, to really get your customers into the spirit.

If you are really wanting to take this year’s Halloween to the next level, you could request that staff come in with Halloween makeup and Halloween outfits!

Halloween decorations is a great way for your salon to keep up-to-date with the season and show your customers that Halloween is a fun and frightful time of year.

Halloween Offers & Promotions

Running Halloween offers and promotions is a great way to boost your sales and get booked up during the spooky period.

Offers such as devilish discounts, freakish freebies or rebellious refer a friend schemes are some ways that you can encourage your customers to get into the Halloween spirit.

This will help to increase your revenues and profits and also get your current customer base spreading the word to their friends and family, potentially resulting in new customers!

Halloween Social Media Posts/ Email Marketing

In this day and age, you are able to share your thoughts and ideas with thousands of people at the click of a button.

Why not use this to your advantage at this time of the year?

Start creating Halloween themed social media posts and stories to show your current customer base and potential new customers that your salon is participating in the spooky season!

You could post how you’ve decorated your salon to show your customers you are participating in Halloween, or you could post your Halloween offers and promotions to remind your customers these are running and how long they are running for so that they don’t miss out.

You could also send out Halloween emails to your customers, reminding them of these offers and link your social media handles to the emails for customers to take a further look into these.

All of these methods of marketing are great ways for your salon to prepare for the Halloween season. Your customers should leave your salon feeling ready for the spooky season!

How to Maintain a Sun-Kissed Glow: Autumn 2024 Look Book

As the leaves change and the air turns crisp, it’s easy to miss that radiant summer glow. But just because summer is over doesn’t mean your tan has to be! Autumn is actually the perfect time to keep your skin looking beautifully bronzed—without worrying about damaging sun exposure. Let’s dive into how you can maintain that gorgeous, sun-kissed glow all season long, effortlessly.

1. Offer sun sessions for a Flawless Glow

As the days grow shorter and cooler, spending time in the sun isn’t really an option. That’s where tan beds come in!

At your salon you can showcase the opportunity to give your customer the perfect bronze tan —whether you want a light, subtle glow or a deeper tan that looks like you just came back from vacation.

2. Extend Your Tan with Tanning Lotions

To help your tan last longer, we recommend using a high-quality tanning lotion. Hydration is key when it comes to maintaining a glowing tan as dry skin can lead to faster fading and uneven patches. In your salon you can offer a variety of lotions that not only hydrate your skin but also help your tan stay fresh and even!

Pro tip: Let your customers know that they should exfoliate before applying your tanning lotion! It’ll help remove dead skin cells, allowing the cream to go on smoother and their tan to last longer.

3. Autumn-Ready Skin Prep

Your skin changes with the seasons, and autumn is the time to shift to more nourishing and hydrating products. After the sun-soaked days of summer, your skin might be feeling a little dry or damaged. The cooler air doesn’t help, either! Salons can offer rejuvenating body treatments and facials that are perfect for prepping skin for a long-lasting tan.

Offering treatments or products in your salon with ingredients like aloe vera, shea butter, and vitamin E is great during Autumn. These ingredients will replenish and repair their skin during these colder, dryer months.

4. Embrace the Warm, Autumn Glow

One of the best things about autumn tanning? The warm, golden tones that complement autumnal fashion so beautifully. Whether you’re layering cosy sweaters or rocking a new lipstick, that hint of bronze on your skin will make everything pop.

We love pairing a fresh tan with rich autumn colours like burgundy, mustard, and olive green—hello, ultimate autumn vibes!

5. Pamper Yourself with a Seasonal Spa Day

Why not treat yourself to a full beauty refresh this autumn? Pair your tanning session with a hydrating facial, a body scrub, or even a mani-pedi for the ultimate seasonal self-care day. You’ll leave feeling refreshed, glowing, and ready to take on all the autumn activities with a radiant complexion.

Autumn Marketing Tips for your Salon

As today marks the first day of October, it is now officially autumn! Autumn is one of those seasons that you either love or hate.

Autumn lovers will be wrapping up in their warm fleece-lined coat to go for a walk in the park, watching the golden leaves fall from the trees with a hot chocolate in their hand.

Autumn haters will be sat inside longing to go back in time to relive their best Summer moments.

Whether you are an autumn lover or hater, this blog will give you some tips on how to get your salon ready for the cosy season!

Tip 1 – Decorate your Salon

Get your customers to be on your vibe by decorating your salon with autumn decorations.

This could be some artificial leaf garlands, artificial pumpkins, fairy lights or anything that gives you that autumn aesthetic!

If you offer complimentary drinks to your customers, try purchasing pumpkin spice, ginger or chai powders/syrups, for them to spice up their usual coffee or hot chocolate and to get in the autumnal spirit.

Tip 2 – Autumn Offers

Autumn may mean feeling blue for some, so what better way to cheer up your customers than having an autumn offer!

This could be a discount on sunbed courses or extra free minutes when purchasing a course if you are a tanning salon, for customers to prolong that summer tan so they can still get their vitamin D, which is a mood boosting vitamin.

This could be a discount on beauty services or a free product when booking a beauty service if you are a beauty salon, to give your customers that confidence and serotonin boost.

Tip 3 – Getting Prepared!

As calm as the autumn season may be, there is also a hectic season just around the corner from this, Christmas.

Christmas in the salon industry is one of the busiest periods, as everyone is wanting to book appointments to look their best for the most wonderful time of the year.

Now that summer is over, this is the perfect time to start taking bookings for the Christmas period.

Posting on your social media accounts encouraging your customers to get their Christmas appointments booked in is a great way to remind them to book in advance to guarantee them a slot at their desired date and time.

If you still have some Christmas openings nearer the time and you want to get them filled in, try posting your available slots on your social media.

This will allow for more potential customers to easily access your availability and choose a time that suits them.

All of the tips above will guarantee to get your customers into the autumn spirit!

How Social Media can Benefit your Salon

In today’s digital age, having a strong social media presence is essential for any business, including beauty and tanning salons. Social media offers an unparalleled opportunity to connect with your clients, showcase your services, and build a loyal community. Whether you’re new to social media or looking to enhance your current strategy, here’s a guide on how to use social media to benefit your salon.

Showcase Your Work with High-Quality Visuals

Salons thrive on visual appeal, making platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok ideal for showcasing your work. Post high-quality photos and videos of your services—whether it's a stunning before-and-after tan, a flawless manicure, or a trendy haircut. Use professional lighting and consider investing in a good camera to ensure your images are sharp and vibrant. Regularly updating your feed with fresh content keeps your audience engaged and showcases the range of services you offer.

Engage with Your Audience

Social media is not just about posting content; it's about building relationships. Engage with your audience by responding to comments, answering questions, and thanking clients for their positive feedback. You can also use polls, Q&A sessions, and live videos to interact with your followers in real-time. By being responsive and interactive, you show that your salon values its customers, which can lead to increased loyalty and word-of-mouth referrals.

Promote Special Offers and Discounts

Social media is a powerful tool for promoting special offers, discounts, and seasonal deals. Create eye-catching posts or stories that highlight your promotions, and encourage your followers to share them with their networks. You can also run exclusive social media contests or giveaways to attract new clients. For example, offer a free service to a randomly selected follower who shares your post or tags a friend. This not only boosts engagement but also increases your salon’s visibility.

Leverage User-Generated Content

Encourage your satisfied clients to share their experiences on social media and tag your salon. User-generated content (UGC) is a powerful form of social proof that can help attract new clients. Repost these photos or testimonials on your own social media pages to showcase real-life examples of your work. UGC not only builds trust but also creates a sense of community around your brand.

Educate and Inspire with Content

Beyond showcasing your services, use social media to educate and inspire your audience. Share beauty tips, skincare routines, and tanning advice that can add value to your followers' lives. You can also post behind-the-scenes content to give a glimpse into your salon’s daily operations, or highlight the expertise of your staff. Educational content positions your salon as an authority in the industry and builds trust with potential clients.

Use Hashtags Strategically

Hashtags are essential for increasing the discoverability of your posts on platforms like Instagram and Twitter. Use a mix of popular and niche hashtags related to beauty, tanning, and your local area to reach a broader audience. For example, #BeautySalon, #Tanning, and #YourCityName can help your posts appear in relevant searches. Creating a unique hashtag for your salon can also encourage clients to tag their photos, further boosting your brand’s visibility.

Track Your Performance and Adjust Your Strategy

Social media platforms offer built-in analytics tools that allow you to track the performance of your posts. Pay attention to metrics such as engagement rates, reach, and follower growth to understand what content resonates most with your audience. Use this data to refine your strategy, posting more of what works and adjusting what doesn’t. Regularly reviewing your social media performance ensures that your efforts are driving real results for your salon.

Run Paid Social Media Campaigns

While organic reach is important, investing in paid social media campaigns can give your salon an extra boost. Platforms like Facebook and Instagram offer targeted advertising options that allow you to reach specific demographics based on location, interests, and behaviors. A well-crafted ad campaign can attract new clients, promote upcoming events, or increase bookings for specific services. Start with a small budget, and experiment with different ad formats to see what works best for your salon.

Build a Community

Ultimately, the goal of your social media presence should be to build a community around your brand. Encourage your clients to follow your pages, interact with your posts, and share their experiences. Host virtual events, like live beauty tutorials or Q&A sessions, to foster a sense of connection. By creating a community, you turn one-time visitors into loyal clients who will keep coming back to your salon.

Social media is a powerful tool that can significantly benefit your beauty or tanning salon. By showcasing your work, engaging with your audience, and leveraging the right strategies, you can increase your salon's visibility, attract new clients, and build a loyal customer base. Whether you're promoting special offers, collaborating with influencers, or educating your followers, social media offers endless opportunities to grow your salon business. Start implementing these tips today to see how social media can transform your salon’s success.

The Best Kept Salon Secrets!

You're probably wondering what these secrets are... and why you don't know them already.

The thing is, although salons are very similar in what they do, they can be very different in how they do things. Therefore what works well for some may not for others, so we've spoken to a number of salons and gathered together just what it is that they think keeps their salon busy regardless of how small or big a thing it is...

  • Treat being a stylist/ therapist/ beautician as your hobby and not your job!

When your job is all about making someone look and feel good about themselves you begin to get the same feeling. If you do it for fun, your 'job' actually turns into something to look forward to every day. Having that passion for your job will reflect in how your work looks and how your clients react. This goes both ways though and if you treat your job as a chore then that will show too. The brighter you make work feel, the more likely a customer is to book again!

  • Accepting the ups and the down's as a learning curve rather than a set-back

Learning to deal with the downs of a salon as a learning curve not a set-back is the best decision you could make. For example, if you have an unusually quiet period in Summer... why could that be? Did you do enough marketing? Did you remind clients to re-book after 6 weeks? If not, instead of dwelling on it, why not make use of the quiet time? Send out a marketing campaign from your Salon Tracker marketing suite offering 20% off treatments for the week. Or, why not focus on your social pages and put some offers on there? Business will be booming again all because you were proactive rather than dwelling on a setback.

Finally...

  • Salon Software i.e. Salon Tracker!

If you're still running your salon with endless paper cards for your tanning beds and messy hair and beauty diary's with pages ripped out and words that have been tried to be erased whilst sending your appointment reminders manually from your own phone... then it's time to move on. Our users say using our software has saved them time and gives them more hours in the day. This means they have no compromise on personal time and they can invest the extra time in the salon.

Salon Tracker boasts many features and is always improving the software based on user needs and feedback. Features include, SMS appointment reminders and marketing suite, extensive business reports and charts, re-book reminders and more.
